The Item Transmuter is a handy tool that you can use to craft various potions and gear. Among them is a key item called the Windmill Gear, a vital component of a windmill built by the fallen Republic. Most ingredients, such as Iron Ore and Beast Bone, are easy to obtain. On the other hand, the Quetzalcoatl Talon required to make the Windmill Gear is not as easy to acquire as you must hunt a deadly beast in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
How To Get Windmill Gear in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
You can obtain the Quetzalcoatl Talon in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth by killing the deadly beast located on the western side of the Grasslands. However, this monster will not appear until you unlock the Classified Intel: Winged Lacertilian of Yore.
First, you must visit four Lifestream Springs in the Grasslands, and you can uncover their locations by turning on the Activation Intel Towers. Once you have enough data, Chadley will add the location of the new Classified Intel to your map.
Quetzalcoatl is a Level 22 enemy with a Lightning element. Despite its large size, this monster is swift and can throw Cloud several meters away with its sweep attack. Here are its attributes:
- Weakness: Ice
- Lesser Resistance: Slow, Poison, Stop, and Morphable Items
- Greater Resistances: None
- Absorbed Elements: None
- Immunities: Proportional Damage and Petrify
You should attack Quetzalcoatl with Ice magic or abilities like Ice Impulse and Snow Flurry to pressure the monster. Please be extra careful when the boss takes flight because it usually unleashes a powerful move during this period.
How To Use
Once you have obtained the Quetzalcoatl Talon, you can go to the Item Transmuter menu to craft the Windmill Gear in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. You need this key item to complete the Where the Wind Blows side quest. Note that this mission won’t be available immediately since you must complete the Farmer’s Request side quest first.
After you accept the mission, you can speak with Broden at Kalm Inn, and he’ll ask you to help his friend. The Windmill Settlement is located on the northeast side of Kalm, and you can find Mildred inside the abandoned area.
During my Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth playthrough, I already got the Quetzalcoatl Talon and crafted the Windmill Gear when I spoke with Mildred. I immediately handed over the key item and easily completed the side quest. Here are the rewards you will get:
- Cleansing Materia
- Whistlewind Scarf
- Party EXP
- Character EXP
- Relationship Points with Red XIII
Dealing with the Quetzalcoatl can be a tough endeavor, so here’s Tifa giving Aerith a backrub to help you relax:
