There are many mysteries and challenges across Pywel, and one of the biggest involves its gorgeous waterfalls. In this particular case, we’re talking about how to cross them because, as you know, treasure often lies behind these drops of water. Since the game doesn’t tell you which ones are passable and how to cross them, here we have a guide to help you get through waterfalls in Crimson Desert unscathed (well, most of the time).
How to Enter Waterfalls in Crimson Desert
Before even attempting to enter a waterfall in Crimson Desert, you should know that not every waterfall will let you go through. There is one clear indicator as to which ones are passable.

The waterfalls that will let you go through are usually marked with rocky formations on the outside, such as the one you can see in the above image. These rocks always indicate that there’s a hidden room behind the waterfall, so if you see these, that means there’s treasure behind.
Now, onto the actual challenge: getting through the waterfall. Instead of going the usual video game-y way of just crossing over, Crimson Desert raises the bar by making waterfalls feel realistic, in the sense that just can’t walk to them and enter. Instead, you have to use one move to cut through the water.

You have to use your Pierce attack, which you can execute with R1+Triangle or RB+Y, and time it right so you can go through the water. We’ve noticed that the best way to pass unscathed is by standing far behind the waterfall and timing the attack right so the end of the move brings you inside the waterfall. If you fail at first, don’t worry, you’ll only lose a bit of health and will be pushed away from the water, but you can keep trying.

Once inside, the loot will depend on the waterfall. In the case of the one in Whispering Grotto, you’ll get a Duskfang Leather armor, which increases Food effects and your Climbing speed, and a Refined Palmar Pill.
Since this is the first waterfall you’ll see in the game, we recommend practicing entering here before you move away from Hernand and start exploring other nooks and crannies across Pywell.
