How To Get (& Use) Dyes in Dragon’s Dogma 2

As expensive as getting a professional to dye your hair.

There’s no doubt that Dragon’s Dogma 2 has one of the best character creators for an RPG. Fans have gone to great lengths to create some awesome and funny characters. Thankfully, your character’s looks aren’t set in stone, and you can change them down the road using dyes. You’ll have to go rather far out of your way to find them, but it’s an option if you want to change things up a little bit.

Where To Find Dyes in DD2

How badly do you want dyes in Dragon’s Dogma 2? Because to find them, you’ll have to travel all the way to Bakbattahl, through treacherous territory fraught with danger. Unless you have a permit to pass into Battahl, you’ll have to try a more creative method. Either way, it’ll go down like so:

  • Travel to Bakbattahl
  • Purchase dyes from Alexia
  • Give them to a Barberie
  • Change your hairstyle

Assuming you get there (in one piece), make a stop at the Bakbattahl Pawn Guild. If you’re facing the Riftstone there, turn around, and you’ll see a beastran merchant named Alexia. Speak with her, and she’ll show you a list of dyes, each costing 500 Rift Crystals.

Now, any dyes you purchase have to be given to a barber—any will do. However, there’s already one in Bakbattahl called Mettefere’s Cosmetics, right next to the apothecary in the Mercantile Ward.

Speak with the shop owner and choose Change Hairstyle; whatever dyes you had on you are automatically removed. It’ll cost 10,000 gold, though!

Unfortunately, no. There are no armor dyes in Dragon’s Dogma 2, which is honestly a bummer. It would’ve been great to cultivate the same kind of community FromSoftware has with its “Fashion Souls.” Sadly, dyes only apply to hair.

This does bring up an equally important question: Are dyes worth buying in Dragon’s Dogma 2? And that’s a big no, too. Just look at the cost to first buy the dye (500 Rift Crystals), then to have an NPC apply it (10000 gold). You’re better off spending 500 Rift Crystals on an Art of Metamorphosis and changing your looks that way.
