How To Get (& Use) Sludge Filled Canister in V Rising

One man’s sludge is another vampire’s treasure.

You’re not just any vampire in V Rising. You’re also a good vampire… more or less. You recycle the humans’ radioactive waste into something more sustainable for the environment, such as weapons of mass destruction (against humans, of course). However, the game can get confusing at this point, and if you want to harness the power of industrial waste, you’re going to need the proper guidance. So, here’s how to acquire a Sludge Filled Canister in V Rising.

[Updated on April 24, 2024 – Map images added and new methods detailed.]

You Need an Empty Canister First

Sadly, you can’t just scoop up that icky sludge with your perfect and pallid vampire hands. You don’t want to ruin that goth girl (or goth boy) skincare for hands, do you? There’s a special container you need for the Sludge Filled Canister, which is the Empty Canister. Likewise, this is a bit troublesome to acquire if you’re not into building or crafting.

The following are the steps you must accomplish to get an Empty Cannister.

  1. Level up to 60 or 50+ at the very least.
  2. Go to Gloomrot South, find the Trancendum Machine Factory due north of the region, and map.
  3. Slay Ziva the Engineer. She’s a level 60 boss. Defeating her will unlock the Empty Canister crafting recipe.
  4. By the way, the Empty Canister needs the following components:
    • 1x Iron Ingot
    • 4x Glass
  5. Build a Fabricator if you don’t already have it, collect those aforementioned components above, and craft the Empty Canister.
  6. Sadly, each craft only yields one Empty Canister, so you need to stock up on those components.

Once you have your Empty Canister or canisters, you’re ready to harvest the sludge.

How to Get Sludge Filled Canister in V Rising

On your way to Ziva and her machine factory in Gloomrot South, you might have already gotten past some noxious green pools that aren’t interactive. Now that you have the Empty Canister, you can finally interact with them.

Just walk up to the sludge pool, and the prompt to collect the sludge will appear on-screen. Press the interact button, and your Empty Canister will become a Sludge Filled Canister. I recommend getting all the Empty Canisters you need to save some trips. Also, the filled canisters can be teleported.

It’s not really needed for most recipes. But one late-game building and crafting component called Radium Alloy needs at least one Sludge Filled Canister per craft, and you’re going to need a lot of Radium Alloy.

Enter the world of V Rising on PC via Steam.
