Insect bits and pieces can only get you so far in Grounded. Sooner or later, you’re going to need sturdier tools, and good old-fashioned bone is one of your best bets. Sunken Bones in Grounded, for that matter, ought to be a staple in your resource stockpile and grocery list. Problem is, it’s quite hard to find Sunken Bones in a mere suburban yard. Here’s where you can find Sunken Bones in Grounded along with some of the best uses for them.

The bottom of the Pond is where you’ll find one of the heaviest concentrations of Sunken Bones in Grounded. Sadly, your character isn’t a fish and you’re going to need scuba gear in Grounded to get to the Pond Depths area.

To be specific, you’ll want the following gear (and their crafting components) in order to find and farm Sunken Bones:

  • Acorn Shovel (for digging up the Sunken Bones)
    • 2x Sprig
    • 1x Crude Rope
    • 1x Acorn Shell
  • Gill Tube
    • 1x Lilypad Wax
    • 2x Eelgrass Strand
  • Fin Flops
    • 1x Water Boatman Fin
    • 1x Lilypad Wax

Now, you’re going to need a lot of Sunken Bones for Tier 2 gear. That’s why I recommend eventually replacing your Gill Tube with something more protective and more comfortable, such as the Bubble Helmet.

  • Bubble Helmet
    • 5x Sunken Bone
    • 4x Eelgrass Strand
    • 4x Silk Rope

You can probably get by without Fin Flops, but it will be a slower dive. Once you have all the recommended gear for obtaining Sunken Bones, head over to the Koi Pond area. Your landmark will be this exact spot near the Sunken T-Rex.

Here’s a step-by-step process:

  1. Jump to the lilies until you get close to the marked spot in the image.
  2. Before diving down the Pond, look around for Koi Fish. Only jump down if they’re far away.
  3. While underwater, look for a long O2 tubing, and follow it downward.
  4. You’ll know you’re in the right spot if you see a Sunken T-Rex.
  5. Eventually, you’ll get to the bottom of the pond where you can find bits of Sunken Bones.
  6. Use your Shovel to dig out the Sunken Bones.

Once you have your Sunken Bone bundles, head over to the nearest Field Station and analyze them. You will then unlock the following weapons:

  • Bone Dagger
  • Bubble Helmet
  • Bone Trident

You’re going to need Sunken Bone for those pieces of weapons and armor. As I stated earlier, you’ll want to prioritize crafting the Bubble Helmet because you’re going to be maximizing it to obtain more Sunken Bones at the bottom of the Koi Pond.

Other recipes requiring Sunken Bones would be the following:

  • Rusty Spear (1x Sunken Bone)
  • Koi Chestplate (2x Sunken Bones)
  • Koi Scale Greaves (3x Sunken Bones)
  • Koi Scale Chair (4x Sunken Bones)
  • Koi Scale Shelf (2x Sunken Bones)

So you’re going to be returning frequently to the Koi Pond once you’ve unlocked Sunken Bones. It’s your key to crafting sturdier Tier 2 stuff and being able to go toe-to-toe against those pesky Koi.
