One of the most important items you need to get as soon as possible in Nightingale is the Simple Umbrella. You can get this item early in the game and use it throughout the game. Umbrellas can protect you from bad weather and also allow you to glide through the air in a cartoon-style fashion at the expense of your stamina.

The Simple Umbrella item in Nightingale is obtainable early in the game, but you may have missed it because the game doesn’t tell you how to get it. After starting the game, Puck will send you first to the Desert and then to the Swamp, which are two biomes in the tutorial area.

When the tutorial sends you to the Swamp biome, you will see big towers in the distance that you must reach. However, there are predators that will attack you on the way, and you should watch out for them. Each monster has a weapon with a weakness, and the weakness of the predators here is the Axe. When you use the Makeshift Wood Axe on these monsters, you will do more damage to them, especially when you hit them in the head for critical damage.

As you move towards the towers, you have to be careful when passing through the waters because Disease status builds up in the waters in the Swamp biome and can result in death when it is filled. When you arrive at one of these towers, search every floor to find a decent amount of floor loot and chests.

When you open the chest at the top of the tower in Nightingale, you’ll find the Healing Salve you need to complete Puck’s quest, as well as the Simple Umbrella. However, one thing you should pay attention to is that you cannot glide too much with Simple Umbrella. So after jumping down from the tower, you must activate the Umbrella before hitting the ground. Otherwise, you will run out of stamina in the air and take fatal fall damage. To use the Umbrella, you must be holding it with one of your two hands. Finally, if you missed Umbrella in the tutorial, you can also buy it from Essence Traders.

Here is the breakdown to get Simple Umbrella in Nightingale:

  1. After meeting Puck, follow the tasks he gives you.
  2. Puck will bring you to the Desert and then to the Swamp biome.
  3. When you get to the Swamp biome, go to one of the towers visible in the distance. Your Simple Umbrella will be waiting for you in the chest at the top of this tower.
