Warframe‘s latest event, Operation: Belly of the Beast, tasks players with collecting Volatile Motes and using them to purchase some of the juiciest rewards the game has on offer. It’s just that some of these rewards are a little too expensive, and naturally, you’re going to need a ton of Volatile Motes if you want to purchase everything before the event ends in 30 days. So, with the clock ticking and the adrenaline kicking, it’s time to get clicking with our Volatile Motes farming guide.

Volatile Motes are mission rewards. The game will give several Volatile Motes every time you finish a mission that’s part of Operation: Belly of the Beast. The Operation has an icon and the exact ‘Belly of the Beast’ wording so you know which missions to complete for those Volatile Motes.

But currently, there are two mission areas in the game you can keep visiting for Volatile Motes farming.

Mission LocationMission Type
Brutus, UranusAscension (permanent)
AlertsVaried, non-repeatable (rotating via timer)

Alerts typically present three missions at a time, and they’re all of different varieties (each lasting one hour before rotating out). So, the best mission here depends on how fast you can finish them or how well you can handle the repeated grind.

Each regular mission gives around five Volatile Motes, more or less. However, there are faster (and more dangerous) ways to shorten the grind so you can buy all the rewards you want.

Based on my experience, each Ascension mission can last anywhere from 5-10 minutes. Per Warframe standards, that’s already quite long and likely not the best use of your time when maximizing those Volatile Mote gains.

So what you want to do is prioritize Alert missions tagged with ‘Belly of the Beast.’ They give out higher Volatile Motes (10). Take note of the following Alert mission types, as they tend to be faster than Ascension:

  • Capture
  • Sabotage
  • Exterminate
  • Mobile Defense
  • Survival

Sadly, you can’t repeat these missions again and again. If you’ve exhausted those missions in the current Belly of the Beast Alert lineup, then feel free to switch to the Ascension missions for Volatile Motes.

Additionally, you might want to take heed of the following tips to further speed up the mission runs:

  • Bring a fast Warframe:
    • Titania
    • Volt
    • Gauss
    • Wukong
  • Play in a squad (and let squadmates do all the work– just kidding)
  • Play in Steel Path to increase the Volatile Motes reward

Once you have dozens or hundreds of Volatile Motes, head on over to Ordis in Larunda Relay to cash them in and get yourself some event rewards.
