Ashes of War arguably helped FromSoftware perfect Soulslike build design. These flexible abilities enhance your playstyle whether you’re a bonk build purist, mage, or naked Wretch. Shadow of the Erdtree introduced many new Ashes to play with, including a few for the sword-lovers among us. Wing Stance not only grants Quality affinity but also shifts your character to a unique melee pose. The leaping thrust and three-slash combo are great, but the Wing Stance wins with style points alone. Here’s how to get the Wing Stance Ash of War in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
Shadow of the Erdtree Wing Stance Guide
To get Wing Stance in Shadow of the Erdtree you must first reach Castle Ensis, home of the deadly Rellana. After pushing beyond the Castle Ensis Site of Grace and making your way through the fortress, you’ll arrive at the Castle-Lord’s Chamber. It’s from this Site of Grace that your journey to the Wing Stance begins. Thankfully, the chest containing this Ash of War isn’t far. Here’s what you need to do to get it:
- Starting from the Site of Grace, go through the archway
- Turn left and leap off the ledge
- Turn right and make your way across the rocky outcropping
- Drop down onto the ledges and make your way to the tower ahead
- Enter the tower and climb the circular stars
- Climb the ladder on the landing above
- Climb the ladder on the next floor
- Open the chest to get the Wing Stance Ash of War
Wing Stance grants Quality affinity, meaning your weapon’s damage scales with both Strength and Dexterity. That makes it a great fit if you’re following a dedicated Quality build or have been leveling either Strength or Dexterity and feel like branching out into the other.
Wing Stance works well with Light Greatswords, so now might be the time to try them out. If you haven’t already found the sword Milady, make sure to grab it from the watchtower while you’re visiting Castle Ensis. Wind Stance is great for quick yet meaty counterattacks. Unfortunately, you have to wait for your character’s arm to fully extend before you can first attack from this stance. That delayed start-up isn’t a huge deal, but it’s worth keeping in mind during hectic boss fights. Practice a bit, and your DPS will soar.
