Most quests in Hogwarts Legacy are pretty straightforward. You learn some spells, fight some baddies, and unravel the secrets of the magical world around you. Then there are quests like Percival Rackham’s Trial. There won’t be any helpful hints or breadcrumbs to lead the way, so you’ll need to do some sleuthing of your own. Investigating the Goblin Presence is trickier than most other quests in this spellbinding RPG because of this, but with the right knowledge, you can cross it off your quest list in no time. If you’re ready to channel your inner detective and Investigate the Goblin Presence in Hogwarts Legacy, here are the steps you’ll need to follow.

Investigate the Goblin Presence has a Required Level of 11. The most important thing to note is there’s basically no handholding for this mission, so you’ll need to be attentive if you don’t want to get lost. You’ll need to use your detective skills. To start with, you’re going to need to search the area outside the tower for evidence of the goblin’s presence. Head to the ruin indicated on your map to kick things off.

Investigate the Tent Area

Head over to the large tent near the ruined pillars. Go inside and you’ll find a letter sitting on a table. This very important document isn’t just a letter from a goblin, it’s a letter from Ranrok. It contains a series of orders from Ranrok to his band of Loyalists. Give the letter a quick read to trigger the next step in the quest.

Defeat the Goblins

Unfortunately, you can’t just continue your investigation from here. Once you finish reading the letter, some goblins will appear and attack you. Thankfully, you’re pretty well-prepared for combat at this stage of the game, so the goblins shouldn’t cause you too many problems. Dispose of them however you’d like, then proceed with your investigation.

What School Assignments Should You Complete Before Percival Rackham’s Trial?

Taking on the goblin assassins isn’t difficult, but that doesn’t mean you should go into this quest unprepared. In order to unlock certain spells and successfully tackle Percival Rackham’s Trial, it’s recommended that you complete the following school assignments first:

  • Professor Kogawa’s Assignment 1 – Glacius
  • Professor Kogawa’s Assignment 2 – Arresto Momentum
  • Professor Garlick’s Assignment 1 – Wingardium Leviosa

Hogwarts Legacy is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
