To effectively explore more planets and get better loot, you will need to level up. The game provides many opportunities to gain experience, and you can choose from many different options. Next, you will learn how to level up fast in Starfield. From planet exploration to piracy, we’ve listed a few effective methods you can use below. Each option differs, so you can choose one or combine them all to get even more experience.

Starfield: How to Level Up Fast

Leveling up your character in Starfield allows you to gain skill points and unlocks many other opportunities in the game. As you may have noticed, it’s straightforward to get experience, since you will get it even for sleeping or drinking Boba Alien Tea. This is cool, but there are other, much more effective ways to do it. We divided them into several categories, so you can find the one that suits you best.

Explore New Locations

Exploring new locations is probably the most effective way to gain experience and level up your character fast in Starfield. You can do the following:

  • Explore different locations on planets you already discovered
  • Search and explore new planets.

The first option includes exploring outposts, landing points, and all other areas that you can find. In addition to exploring many new locations and gaining experience, you will also be able to find various items that you can sell for currency. Don’t worry, this process will not be boring because each plantation in the game is unique, so you will face a bunch of treasures and obstacles.

Next comes the exploration of new planets. Before landing on one of them, you can scan it to find out more information, thus getting 20-40 XP. The same applies to gas giants. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to land on them, but you can still use the scanner to explore them and get experience for it.

Another recommendation would be to accept trade commission requests before exploring planets. You will be able to take different locations for research, thus gaining experience both for visiting these planets and fulfilling the request. By combining these two actions, your level will grow really fast.

Complete Missions

Of course, completing quests will also help you gain experience and level up your character in Starfield. From the very start of the game, you will be able to get a bunch of side and main quests. If possible, complete all of them, regardless of who you get them from, factions, religious cults, crew members, or just random NPCs.

To avoid wasting a lot of time, we recommend that you check your current quests and prioritize them. Also, you may have the opportunity to complete several quests at once while you are in a particular location. Just take advantage of this to kill two birds with one stone. Furthermore, try to focus less on the main storyline and complete side quests, so you will level up enough and get useful items to complete the main tasks without any problems.

Killing Enemies and Piracy

Perhaps this method is not as effective as the others, but it is a very interesting option to level up your character pretty fast in Starfield. In battles, you will also gain experience, and even though you won’t get that much of it if there are enough enemies, you can still level up fast. If you want to get the most out of this method, then you should become a space pirate. Just choose your most powerful ship, best crew members, and go into battle. When you spot a worthy target, just go and board it.

Kill all the enemies and take the ship for yourself. This is really cool because, in addition to gaining experience for all these actions, you can also sell the ship you just captured. This method can be combined with planet exploration because you will definitely come across ships on your way.

Here we go, we have described the main and best methods for gaining experience and increasing your level, but there are other options that you can find in the game. By following all of these recommendations, you shouldn’t have any problems leveling up fast in Starfield, so you can progress through the story and complete even more missions.
