In Sons of the Forest, you can get into building pretty heavily, and will even learn how to build a small cabin eventually. There are quite a few things to build, ranging from fires to shelters, and even traps and weapons. There are seriously endless possibilities with this game, and we intend to help you explore them all. When you first crash land on the island, you will soon realize that the elements will not be kind to you and you need some sort of a shelter. The best one to build after setting up a small tent is a Small Log Cabin. Keep reading to learn how to make a small cabin in Sons of the Forest.
Sons of the Forest: How to Make a Small Cabin
The first thing you will do when you drop onto the island is loot everything around you that fell in the crash as well. Be sure to pick your emergency kit and open it within your inventory so that you can obtain the knife and the axe. This axe will be used quite a bit when you begin making your Small Cabin.
Next, you should set Kelvin’s task to collecting logs and bringing them to you. Once you’ve done that, head into your survival guide and use the button to switch modes. Once you’ve switched modes head into the Shelters tab and look for the Small Log Cabin (Pictured Above). Select it and choose a spot on the ground to place it so that you can begin building.
You will have to collect a total of 75 logs, and learn how to cut them into different shapes in order to complete the cabin. Once you’ve collected all of the logs you need and placed them near the location of the building, start to place them in the building area. This can be done by picking up the log, then heading over to the building site and hitting the “E” key on the unfinished Small Log Cabin. Once you’ve filled up all of the slots for full logs, it’s time to start chopping the logs into smaller pieces.
Take a few of the logs and cut them the long way, like we’ve shown in the picture above and begin to fill up all the plank slots in the unfinished building as you chop each plank. Once those are full, you will need to cut them the short way (Shown Below) so that you can finish the Small Log Cabin.
When you chop the logs in this way, you will be able to pick up 3 different shortened logs from each full-sized log. Once you’ve chopped the remained of your logs this way, place them in the unfinished building.
When you place the final log piece, you will hear a dinging noise and your Small Log Cabin will be complete.
