Do you want to know how to move a beehive and get honeycombs in Minecraft? The addition of bees and beehives in Minecraft as part of update 1.15 has made the world feel more lively. Bees are cute new creatures in the land, even though many players find themselves getting stung and attacked by these small creatures. Beehives are a great source to collect honey and honeycombs, yet if you try destroying them, the bees will attack you. There’s a way to avoid getting stung and moving beehives safely in Minecraft.

Can You Move A Beehive Safely in Minecraft?

To find a hive, follow a wild bee back to its nest to find a beehive in Minecraft. Bees can be found in most biomes, generally near flowers.

Beehives tend to be attached to trees. Usually, multiple beehives will be in the same area as one another. Striking a beehive with a weapon or your fists will make the bees inside hostile, causing the bees to sting and poison you.

You can make bees docile by placing a fire source near the beehive. While any fire source will work, a campfire will be your best option. Place the campfire within a five-block radius of the beehive, and the bees will become docile and won’t attack you while you strike the nest. The best place to drop a campfire is directly below the beehive, but you may end up harming the bee mobs nearby.

While the bees are docile, you can break the beehive with any tool. The axe mines the beehive the fastest, so use that. Once the beehive is destroyed and in your inventory, you can place it down anywhere you want.

If you break a beehive using a tool with the Silk Touch enchantment, the bees within the hive will remain inside. When you place down the nest, the bees will act like nothing happened and work the same as usual.

Can You Craft A Beehive in Minecraft?

While you can safely move a beehive, the other option is to craft your own beehive in Minecraft. You need the three-by-three crafting grid from a crafting table to make a beehive. The ingredients for a beehive are below:

  • Three wood planks on top
  • Three honeycombs in the middle
  • Three wood planks on the bottom

The main difference between a beehive you find in the wild and one you craft is its texture. Wild beehives look more like realistic beehives, with golden swirls and yellow honey. On the other hand, crafted hives look more like a box. Both beehive types function the same, yet if you want a more naturalistic-looking beehive, your best bet is to collect beehives in nature.

How to Get Honeycombs in Minecraft?

You gain honeycombs from shearing a beehive. Honeycombs are needed to craft candles and waxed copper. However, the best use of honeycomb is to create more artificial beehives and build a farm of bees. Having a bee farm will give you easy access to honey, which can be used to negate the effects of poison and create sugar.
