You know the drill, Guardians. The Desert Perpetual raid has finally launched on Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, and you know what that means: a new Exotic weapon to collect. However, it is always easier said than done. Guardians who want to add this new explosive armament to their collection will need to get extremely lucky or jump into the raid race. Regardless of what you want to do, here we’ll tell you how to obtain the new Whirling Ovation weapon in Destiny 2.
How To Get the Whirling Ovation from the Desert Perpetual Raid
Like previous raid-exclusive Exotic weapons, there are two ways to obtain them. The “fastest” way is by participating in the Contest Mode. This mode runs for 48 hours when the raid launches and will guarantee a Whirling Ovation drop, making it the fastest way to get the Exotic in Destiny 2. However, not a lot of people might be ready for Contest Mode or have enough players to queue in. If you’re part of those, then you can wait for the raid to become available for everyone. Once the 48-hour mode ends, everyone can jump into the Desert Perpetual raid and try to get this weapon. Just remember, after Contest Mode, the Exotic weapon isn’t a guaranteed drop.
Perks and Traits
Like other Exotics, Whirling Ovation also has very interesting perks, especially for a Strand Rocket Launcher. Here are the ones that come with the weapon:
- Coronal Culmination (Intrinsic): Hold to charge; release to fire. Charged projectiles have a delayed Solar payload.
- Anticipation: The charge speed of this weaponโs next shot slowly increases over time. Anticipation builds more quickly as you deal more damage with other weapons.
- Composite Stock: This weapon has a dual-purpose stock. Slightly increases stability. Slightly increases handling speed.
- Liquid Coils (Battery): Slower-building charge for higher damage.
- Hard Launch (Barrel): Greatly increases projectile speed. Decreases stability. Slightly decreases blast radius.
Beyond that, Whirling Ovation has Adaptive Frame and, like other Rocket Launchers, uses Special Ammo, so you might have to consider that if you want to add it to your build.
In any case, those who want this Exotic will have to farm the raid and hopefully get it from the final encounter. But if you were lucky to get it during Contest Mode, this weapon is excellent for different loadouts, so you should definitely try it out.
