By this point, you should know that Hell Is Us won’t hold your hand for anything. Be it combat, exploration, or even the story quest, everything is a mystery that you have to carefully solve. Those who want to progress through the story will likely get stuck trying to get the code for the door in the basement of Vitalis’ House in Hell Is Us. While it might seem like a daunting task, it is quite easy, as the answer to this riddle is hidden in plain sight.

Vitalis’ House Code Puzzle in Hell Is Us

The puzzle will begin after you find Victor inside the tunnel of Jova, in the Acasa region. Once you talk to him, he’ll mention that you need to head back to Vitalis’ house, which is the one with the Blacksmith sign next to the blue swing, and look inside to find more information. While Victor will arrive whether you solve the puzzle or not, you need to open the door to progress through the story.

Once you face the door and interact with the panel, you’ll notice it needs six digits, all tied to the three pictures you’ll find in the house. First, you will need to put them in order, which is quite easy, as the marks on the wall indicate which picture goes on it.

In the above image, you can see that the order is:

  1. Vitalis and his wife.
  2. Vitalis’ wife and their kid.
  3. The kid with the car.

You will also notice that each car has a number, which is a piece of the puzzle.

The first car, from left to right, has the number 32, and the second one has the number 17. However, the third one doesn’t have any number, which is when the puzzle gets a bit tricky.

As you’re going through the basement, you’ll see the green car from the picture. If you approach it, you’ll see it has the number 13, which is the final piece of the puzzle.

Once that is done, you can head to the basement to input the code, which is 32-17-13. Doing so will open the door and let you progress through the story.

In case you want to know and don’t mind a few spoilers, here’s what you’ll find inside the room:

  • Note – Lymbic Locks (Explain how the Lymbic Locks of the game work).
  • Lymbic Rod – Grief W (Usable in the chest that is inside Vitalis’ house, on your way to the basement, where the above puzzle is).
  • Glyph – Perfect Guard (Neutral)
  • Glyph – Lingering Pain (Grief)
  • Glyph – Rage Spike (Rage)
  • Glyph – Delirium (Ecstasy)
  • Glyph – Frightful Ambush (Terror)
  • Lymbic Greatsword (Weapon)
  • Vigil Note (Progresses the main story and unlocks the third zone).

Once you grab everything, you should return to open the Lymbic Chest with the new rod (the other one is behind the red toolbox next to the Blacksmith), speak to the Blacksmith to upgrade your weapons, and leave for the third zone.
