You might’ve noticed a few locked areas during your early hours in Hell Is Us, and one of those is the Vault of Forbidden Knowledge in Senedra Forest, the game’s first zone. While you could try a lot of code combinations to enter this place, the truth is that it is easier to return once you meet a specific NPC and progress through the story, as she will be able to help you with not only this vault, but many more around the map. But since we’re focusing on the first vault only, here’s the solution to its puzzle.
What’s the Code for the Vault of Forbidden Knowledge in Senedra Forest in Hell Is Us?
First things first, in case you missed the forest during your first hours, you can find it behind the military tent where you collect the medkit for the soldier during the tutorial.

You will notice a small road on the right side of the tent that will lead you to the Vault’s entrance. However, you won’t be able to enter just yet. To unlock the code, you need to do the following:
- Collect research items from the map.
- Progress through the main story until you meet Vitalis and Tania, the journalist, who joins you inside the APC.
- Give her all the research items you have.
- With enough progress, she will give you the code to the first Vault of Forbidden Knowledge, which is Senedra Forest.
With the code in hand, you can access it on your datapad by heading to the last tab, labeled as Research, and looking for the code there. It will look like this:

Once you have the code, return to the vault and rotate the symbols until they match the code in your datapad.

Once you do that, the door will unlock, and you will be able to explore the first Vault of Forbidden Knowledge in Hell Is Us, which is also one of the many puzzles in Senedra Forest.
You’ll be able to loot the following items inside the vault:
- Glyph – Overwhelm (Grief)
- Glyph – Feed on Fear (Terror)
- Letter – To Rosetta (Miscellaneous Item)
- Tome – A Bitter Triumph (Miscellaneous Item)
- Amine Prism – Sigma (Item needed to close Timeloops)
- Glyph – Gluttony (Ecstasy)
- Glyph – Wave of Wrath (Rage)
- Parchment – Preparations (Miscellaneous Item)
Of all the rewards, the Amine Prism – Sigma is the most useful one, as it will let you close down some of the easiest Timeloops in the game. Yet, the Glyphs are great, too, especially if you want to try different skills for some weapons.
