As you may or may not know, Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate is making a lot of changes to its Power Level system, and one of the caps players will want to reach quickly is 200. While Bungie has squished the numbers significantly, veteran Guardians will soon realize that the process of reaching this new cap is a bit similar to previous expansions. The main difference lies in the actual activities you have to do. So, if you’re unsure about where to go or what to grind, here we have a quick guide to help you.
[Note: This guide contains information from recent livestreams, and it will be updated once the expansion launches.]
Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate – Power Level System, Explained
Before we go into the steps of obtaining Power Level 200 in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, let’s do a quick rundown of how the new Power Level system works. As you know, this expansion will squish many of the numbers and simplify some stats to make things more manageable. Naturally, this applies to Power Level, too. Here’s how it will work:
- Everyone will start at Power Level 10.
- This will only apply for the expansion’s launch.
- The seasonal range is Power Level 200+
- Mid-season Power Cap is 450 for the first three months, and it will rise to 550 for the last three.
- Players will return to Power Level 200 at the end of every season.
In other words, and to simplify it: soft cap will be 200, hard cap for the first three months is 450, and the hard cap for the last three months is 550. Once a season ends, we’ll all go back to 200. But now, how do you reach the soft cap?
Reaching Power Level 200
If you’ve been playing Destiny 2 for some years, then you should know that some grinding processes don’t change that much, especially when it comes to reaching the Power Level soft cap. According to recent livestreams by Bungie, the developers have confirmed that you can get to Power Level 150 just by doing the campaign on Legendary Difficulty. Also, Bungie has confirmed that doing the campaign on the aforementioned difficulty should also get you ready for the day-one raid race.
After that, if you want to reach Power Level 200 in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, the best option is to head to the new Portal Activities. You’ll have to grind quite a bit to reach the soft cap. If you want to know more about the new Portal system and the Seasonal Hub, we have an article listing all the changes coming to the expansion here.
Ultimately, the process hasn’t changed that much. The biggest difference is the numbers, which may take some time to get used to. Yet, reaching that soft cap will be easy, especially if you’re accustomed to running the campaign on different difficulties. The great thing about The Edge of Fate is that the new Fabled and Mythic difficulties will feature new challenges and puzzles, so that’s a good incentive for those who like replayability.
