The true endgame of Destiny 2: The Final Shape begins when you reach Power Level 2000, but it might take longer than you think. While the MMO has come a long way and offered players many ways to achieve certain Power Level caps, the 2000 mark is steep. Still, the newest expansion brings many rewards that’ll get you closer to that level. So, if you want to reach Power Level 2000 in Destiny 2 as fast as possible, buckle up and grab your Ghost because you have some work to do.
Destiny 2: Power Level Caps Explained
Before we go into details on how to reach Power Level 2000 fast, let’s go over the caps, which all players should familiarize themselves with. These level caps serve to let players know if they are ready for certain types of content. Furthermore, reaching a cap means you need to start doing different activities to obtain more powerful gear.
- New Player Cap: 1900
- Anyone who starts playing Destiny 2: The Final Shape will get bumped up to Power Level 1900, which is the minimum in the expansion.
- Soft Cap: 1940
- Playing the campaign and doing your regular missions will get you to this power level.
- Powerful Cap: 1990
- You can only reach this Power Level by obtaining Powerful or Pinnacle Gear.
- Pinnacle Cap: 2000
- In this bracket, you can only increase your Power Level by obtaining Pinnacle Gear.
With the Power Level Caps explained, it is now time to look at the fastest way to reach each Power Level in Destiny 2.
How to Reach Soft Cap
This one should be the easiest to get, and playing the campaign should give you enough gear to reach the Soft Cap in a slow and steady manner. However, since we want to reach Power Level 2000 fast, there is a better way to do so: Pathfinder. Pathfinder is the new progression system implemented in The Final Shape, and pursuing it will allow you to level as fast as possible. However, if you prefer something a bit more story-focused with a bit of challenge, do the campaign on Legendary difficulty. After finishing it, you’ll get a full set of 1960 Gear and an Exotic drop. However, it’ll take more time than grinding the Pathfinder system.
How to Reach Powerful Cap
Regardless of the road you took to reach Soft Cap, reaching Powerful Cap is where things get tricky. You can continue doing Pathfinder. It resets every week, so it is a good way to get gear without stressing much. However, you can also go to your Director tab and check any of the destinations and pick one that rewards Pinnacle Gear by finishing them. A good way to work your way through this Power Level Cap is by finishing the first two tiers of Pathfinder. Doing so will reward you with a Powerful Tier 3 Engram.
How to Reach Pinnacle Cap
Since reaching Power Level 2000 in Destiny 2 as fast as possible is everyone’s goal, heed our words: save your Pinnacle drops. If you’re doing specific activities that reward Pinnacle Gear, save them until you are Power Level 1990. Doing so will help you reach the Pinnacle Cap. Before that, stick to Pathfinder, as it is the best way to reach most caps, except for the Pinnacle one.
With all the recommendations to reach Pinnacle Cap, let’s go over the ideal way to reach it fast:
- Do the campaign on Legendary difficulty to reach Power Level 1960.
- Stick to Pathfinder until you reach Power Level 1990.
- Complete activities that reward Pinnacle Gear to push it to Power Level 2000.
While it is easier said than done, if you grab a few friends, stick to weekly objectives, and save some drops until the last moment, you’ll reach Power Level 2000 in no time. And if you need a bit of help with the campaign, visit our guide with all the steps of The Final Shape.
