A way to respec passives has always been the beating heart of variety in any isometric, loot-based ARPG. And while ‘respeccing’ has been made more accessible throughout the years, Last Epoch makes you work hard for that privilege. The Last Epoch respec mechanic is less straightforward compared to other ARPGs like Path of Exile or Diablo 4. So if you value those hard-earned points, here’s a guide on how to respec passives in Last Epoch.
How to Respec Passives for Skills/Spells
Each active skill or spell in Last Epoch has its own skill tree and you earn points for them through traditional leveling (killing enemies, quest rewards, etc.). However, it’s important to note that if you respec the points for your skill tree, you won’t get the point back.

- Reduce the skill level by one and remove a point in a skill node. You’ll need to level up the skill again to earn the point back.
- Remove the whole skill from the skill slot (so you can replace it with another). This will remove nearly all the progress. You’ll need to level up the skill again to earn some of the points back.
Either method will have you leveling up your skills again. As a rule of thumb, just remember that you won’t get those passives and skill levels back. That’s just how the skill respec works in Last Epoch. Thus, you need some planning as you don’t want to blindly allocate skill points unless you’re fine with spending more effort grinding.
You can, however, lessen the grind for when you really need to respec or change skills. The Minimum Skill Level mechanic ensures that you at least get a maximum of 10 skill points (and 10 skill levels) back when you replace skills. You have to be level 80 to get all 10 Minimum Skill Levels, though.
But if you want to just rectify a wrong skill point allocation for a skill node, then you have to grind again for those points.
How to Respec Passives for Mastery Classes
Thankfully, passive respec in Last Epoch is more traditional and easier. If you want to respec the points you spent for the mastery and base class passive tree, then just visit a Chronomancer NPC. They can help you reallocate some points in your passive tree.
However, you’ll still be stuck with your choice of Mastery Class (and their corresponding Mastery Skills) even though you can respec the points. At least that’s how it works at the time of writing. So again, you have to choose wisely and carefully here.
