Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is one of the most challenging and visually astounding games I’ve ever seen. From the absolutely gorgeous character design to the immersive and beautiful atmospheric design, there’s very little to dislike. However, considering that the game relies on autosave to put you back where you were last, it can be hard to know when to stop playing and close to your desktop. So, how do you manually save?

How Does Saving in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Work?

To manually save in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you need to head to an Expedition Flag and Rest. Whenever you see an Expedition Flag, walk on up and interact with it. The very first option you’ll have is to Rest. The game does autosave pretty regularly, but you can’t know for sure when the last time that happened was unless you check. So, Resting ensures that you saved.

You don’t come across a ton of Expedition Flags. But, you do come across them often enough, especially before larger battles and area, to take advantage of Resting. Another really easy way to manually save is by going into your inventory or game’s menu and doing just about anything. If you change out your wardrobe, adjust your Pictos, or even adjust the game’s settings, it will automatically save.

Although you aren’t technically pressing a save button, you can return to that exact location if you die shortly after. This situation makes me wish the developers had included a quicksave option in the Loads section, which already has three available slots. It seems logical for it to be added there, but I’m also aware that this, alongside not having a minimap, is a feature of the game, not a flaw.
