A new feature added to Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Enigmas are collectible puzzles with two parts. First, you have to find the enigma itself, often in a secluded location, and then you have to solve a cryptic riddle to find the enigma’s treasure, usually an outfit dye or a talisman. One such enigma, “The Gift”, can be found in Abbasiyah and requires you to track down a talisman that went missing after a sweet love affair went sour.
“The Gift” Enigma Location
One of three enigmas in Abbasiyah, “The Gift” can be found just southeast of the Four Markets Gate. You can use Enkidu to find and mark the enigma’s golden scroll icon, but if you’re attempting to reach the enigma on foot, keep your eyes peeled for an L-shaped rooftop with a small lounge area covered by an ivy pergola and teal fabric drapings.
Entering Baghdad through the Four Markets Gate, you can reach the correct building by following the road to the second intersection and taking a right, then following that road south until you see a house on the right with a small teal canopy out front. Climb the house to find the ivy pergola, with the enigma on a small side table inside. Pick it up, and “The Gift” enigma will be added to your inventory.
How to Solve “The Gift” Enigma
To solve “The Gift” enigma, you need to:
- Travel to the bridge north of the Pomegranate Gate
- Follow the river west to the guard outpost with the wooden bridge
- Locate the enigma solution in the grass near the bridge
You can read the enigma’s riddle by going into the inventory menu, then into your bag, where you’ll be able to see all of your unsolved enigmas in their own category. “The Gift” enigma is a poem from a soldier unlucky in love, explaining how he cast his gift into the river and saw it “sail on towards the setting sun” from a bridge “near the gate famed for its markets.”
Surprisingly, given where you found the enigma, the gate in question is not the Four Markets Gate. Instead, it’s the Pomegranate Gate in southern Baghdad, not far from the Bazaar and the Monastery of the Virgins. Travel there, and just north of the gate itself, you’ll find a bridge over a river flowing east-west. Follow the river west, “towards the setting sun.”
This next part is easier to do with a boat, but it’s not necessary. You’ll need to continue following the river west out of Baghdad and into the Wilderness West. Stay on the river until you come to a simple wooden bridge staffed by a handful of guards. Don’t worry, the guards here aren’t hostile so long as you don’t provoke them.
The solution to “The Gift” enigma is small and easily missable, but don’t be afraid to use Eagle Vision to help make it stand out. Search the southern bank of the river in front of the bridge until you spot a shining object in the grass or get a “Collect” prompt.
Pick up the object, and you’ll get the Knight’s Talisman, a decorative red and gold accessory you can add to any of your outfits.
