The remake of Super Mario RPG is full of the same great gameplay we all remember with a visual update. Many of the puzzles in the game are the same as they originally were, with a few new additions to spice things up. One such puzzle is the very last one that you encounter on the Sunken Ship. This one requires you to input a password so that you can move forward. The answer to the puzzle is easy, but actually finding it for yourself is the challenge. To lessen that challenge, we wrote out how to solve the Sunken Ship puzzle in Super Mario RPG.

The password is PEARLS starting from the bottom left crate and going counter-clockwise. You can obtain the different necessary letters via the puzzles in the previous room. However, if you would rather just run through them, you can input the code and still go through.

To actually input the code, you must jump and hit each crate and key in the appropriate letter. As we explained, you need to start from the bottom left, which is the crate that Mario is jumping towards in the image above. From that crate counter-clockwise, meaning going right from that first crate, you’ll key in each letter.

Once each letter is on the correct crate, interact with the horn-shaped item towards the door on the other side of the room. At that point, you’ll be able to leave the room, fight the ship’s boss, and make your way out of there. To wrap it up:

  1. Solve each of the puzzles in the previous rooms to get the code.

  2. Key in the word PEARLS in the corresponding crates, starting with the bottom left.

  3. When done, interact with the horn on the other side of the room.
