This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

BitLife‘s back at it again with more crazy expansion packs. One of the crazy additions to the game actually allows you to start and run your own cult. While this is something that probably shouldn’t be done in real life, it’s super fun to play out in the fun little mobile life sim game. You get to create a commune, choose the perfect location, and even create rules and laws for your followers, but watch out, they can totally rebel against you if you don’t play your cards right. I wouldn’t want to be on the bad side of that confrontation.

Starting a cult is pretty simple, but before you get started, you’ll need to head over to the Marketplace and purchase the Cult Expansion. Without it, you can’t do much of anything. Once you’ve got all that sorted, it’s time to get started.

Head over to the Activities tab and select the Commune option. To purchase a commune, you’ll need to buy a building. Each building has different prices, sizes, dwelling and building capacities, and monthly expenses. Much like a personal property, you can apply for a mortgage to purchase it, or even just buy it with cash.

Once you’ve got your building figured out and purchased, you need to choose the name and philosophy for your new commune. The name can be anything you choose, but you have a few options when it comes to the philosophy:

  • Alien
  • Anti Establishment
  • Armageddon
  • New Age

My personal favorite is Alien, but you’re free to choose whatever you’d like. Now, it’s time to determine your Doctrine, or the rules that will serve as the foundation of your commune’s belief system. The options are quite silly, so have some fun with this portion of the process. Finally, choose your Honorific, or the name your followers will address you by.

Now, you need to determine your membership free. Your members must pay an entry fee as well as a yearly fee. Each of these can be altered and set to whatever amount you want. Be careful not to set the amounts too high though, or you might have trouble getting followers.

As your cult grows and you gain more followers, you need to keep their loyalty, otherwise you’ll be faced with some difficult situations. There are actually quite a few different options when it comes to increasing cult follower loyalty, and they can all be done relatively quickly.

Head into your Commune menu from the Activities tab and select your Compound in order to:

  • Construct structures in your Compound to keep your followers happy
  • Do an Outreach Mission to go global with your commune
  • Perform Ceremonies to bring your followers together
  • Interact with your Structures with your followers
  • Teach and Guide your followers
  • Make and sell merch to your commune with the Workshop

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
