The race is on, Guardians. We’ve all been scouring around the Tower and beyond for chess pieces, and it seems the big puzzle is about to unfold. Today, Destiny 2 opened the path to the full chess puzzle and whatever mystery is behind it. As usual, we’ve made a guide to show you how to start it, as well as the requirements you need for it.

[Disclaimer: Since the puzzle has just been released, we’ll update the guide with any other relevant information we discover as we attempt to solve it.]

Before you even attempt to reach the chessboard and try to see how it works, you need to find out where to actually start the chess puzzle in Destiny 2, and also meet a few requirements.

From what we’ve gathered, you must do the following:

  • Progress through Episode: Heresy until Eris gets her Throne World.
  • Collect all 60 chess pieces.
    • We have a guide right here for that.

Once that’s done, you’ll want to head to Eris’s Flat and enter the portal to her Throne World. After you enter it, do the following:

  1. Look for Eris, who is usually standing in front of three tables.
  2. Walk to the edge of the area and jump off.
  3. While falling, turn around to land below the area and inside a new room.
  4. You’ll see a table with a chessboard and a prompt that reads, “Pick up the King?”
  5. Press the button and you’ll be teleported to a large chessboard.

So far, it seems you can interact with the signs outside of the chessboard. These signs show a specific piece, as well as the moves you can take with said piece. However, we’re preparing a guide on how to solve the puzzle, so stay tuned.
