Alright, Guardians, this is not a drill. After many weeks and months without brains-teasers around Sol, some players have discovered a new secret quest leading to the Barrow-Dyad Exotic SMG. It may not seem like a huge thing right now, but trust us, it is. Not every day we get a secret quest leading to one fantastic weapon in Destiny 2, so regardless of what your play style is or if you’re a casual or a hardcore Guardian, you’ll want to jump into the secret-hunting train as soon as possible. Here, we’ll tell you how to begin this secret quest.

[Note: This guide contains information we gathered in-game as well as tips from well-known Destiny 2 YouTuber Esoterrick.]

To start the quest, you need to unlock The Nether first, which is one of the new activities in Episode: Heresy. Due to its roguelike nature, not everyone will start the secret quest right away. You might have to keep trying until you meet the right conditions, which are the following:

  1. Enter The Nether: Explore until you get to The Trenchway or Hall of Souls.
  2. Look for the Blight in the abovementioned locations. However, since it is always randomized, you might have to repeat the first step until you locate the Blight.
  3. Inside the Blight, head to the plate on the floor and wait until a symbol appears. You need to pay attention to where it tells you to go. You’ll get this message on the left side of your screen, so be sure not to miss it.
  4. Move to the direction the message told you to, and you’ll see an item spawn in front of you.
  5. Grab the item and bring it to Eris’ Apartment.
  6. Then, interact with the Shaping Slab and equip the Scotopic Rune enhancement. Doing so will begin the quest.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, of course, as the quest has just begun, and while it will take a while, the reward is worth the effort.
