‘Tis the time of stealing, and those involved in the Weazel Plaza Shootout event in GTA Online know it. If you’re unaware, the Weazel Plaza Shootout event debuted in 2022 with the Los Santos Drug Wars update and returns occasionally for the holiday season. It is a clear reference to Die Hard, and it’ll task you with causing some festive mayhem above the Los Santos skyline. Still, there are a few things you need to know first before starting this limited-time event.

Like other freemode events in GTA Online, there are a few requirements you must fulfill before starting the Weazel Plaza Shootout; they are as follows:

  • Be in a Public Session.
    • Some people have reported the event also triggers in Invite Only sessions, but it hasn’t been confirmed.
  • Arrive at Weazel Plaza between 8 pm and 6 am (in-game time).

Similar to other events, you also need to spend a bit of time on your current session before it triggers. Most players report a timer of 20 minutes for the shootout to begin.

How To Complete the Weazel Plaza Shootout

Once the event triggers, you’ll see a flare on the rooftop of a building where some enemies will start shooting police officers. The easiest way to reach this place and join the fight is by flying there, either via helicopter or an Oppressor Mk2. When you arrive, you’ll get three stars and must defeat all enemies in the area. One of them will drop the WM 29 Pistol, which is the reward everyone’s looking for.

The event isn’t difficult to tackle, but any of the weaponized flying vehicles will make things much easier. If you’re having trouble, bring a friend. However, those in a public session should be careful because it can get quite chaotic with all the cops and players around. Still, it is a fun thing to do on the side while you grind other activities to get money.
