This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

So you’ve looked up a build guide online, and alas, it’s full of unique items. Thankfully, it’s easier to address your endgame build woes now. Diablo 4 has improved its trading system in Season 4 or the Loot Reborn update. It’s just that trading in Diablo 4 is still a little unrefined. Moreover, the game doesn’t exactly walk you through the process. So I’ll be doing that. Here’s how to trade in Diablo 4 without friction.

How Does Trading Work in Diablo 4 Season 4? Explained

To find an item for sale or to sell one, you can either look in the in-game Trade Chat, in social media like Discord, FB groups, or other forums, or on third-party websites like Diablo.trade.

Once you’ve already found an item or a person you want to trade with in-game, follow this step-by-step process for trading.

  1. If you’re not in-game friends with the person you’re trading with, ask for their Battle Tag and add them in-game by opening the Social Menu and selecting ‘Add Friend.’ Copy and paste or type in your trading partner’s Battle Tag.
  2. Wait for the other party to accept the friend request. Once they have, invite them to a party through the in-game friend list or wait for their party invite.
  3. Go to your trading partner’s location as shown on the map (blue diamond icon) or wait for them to come to you. Ideally, trade in a safe area or a large city like Kyovashad.
  4. Approach your trading partner and open the action wheel by clicking on their character. Select “Invite to Trade.”
  5. In the trading window, place the items or the gold that both of you have agreed upon.
  6. Select “lock in offer.”
  7. Select “accept trade.”

It’s up to you whether you want to thank them, unfriend them afterward, or whatever course of action you want to do. I recommend politeness and honesty, of course.

What Can You Trade?

As for which items you can trade in Diablo 4 Season 4, here’s a list or table below. Do note that this can change in future seasons.

There might also be times when the developers might pause or freeze in-game trading to address security or stability issues.

Gold
Magic items (which haven’t been modified or upgraded)
Rare items (which haven’t been modified or upgraded)
Services (such as Uber boss assassinations or leveling taxis)
Unique items (which haven’t been modified or upgraded)
Gems
Elixirs
Incense
Boss Summoning Materials / Consumables
Services (such as Uber boss assassinations or leveling taxis)

Sadly, you can’t trade aspects, but you can trade items with aspects on them and then salvage them afterward to obtain the aspect. Feel free to discuss which items I might have missed on the list, as more might be added in future seasons.

Diablo 4 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
