As you know, Destiny 2 always tries to include new destination abilities that work for traversal or some puzzle-solving in its expansions, and The Edge of Fate is no exception. This time, Guardians heading into Kepler will soon discover a new set of skills that will let them unlock new areas and open a few secret chests around this locale. However, you won’t have access to all of them from the start, so it’s helpful to know how long it takes to obtain them all. If that’s the case, here’s a quick guide to show you how to unlock every Dark Matter ability in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate.
All Dark Matter Abilities in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate
At the time of writing, there are three Dark Matter abilities in Destiny 2. Like in previous expansions, all you need to do to get them is progress through the main story. That means doing the main quests and any campaign-related tasks that appear during your journey. But since that is a broad answer, we’ll break down how to unlock each one.
Matterspark

You’ll unlock the Matterspark Dark Matter ability when you begin Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, more specifically, during the Mission: Invitation quest, which is the first of the expansion. All you must do is interact with the Dark Matter to become the deadliest ball of light in Kepler. In all seriousness, though, you can use this to travel faster across the map and even enter a few tight spaces in some missions.
Relocator

You’ll obtain this rocket launcher of sorts while going for the Exile’s Accord strangelet. You’ll actually obtain this power before entering any missions, so you only need to follow the Exile’s Accord questline until you reach the new zone and get the item. However, as you progress through the campaign, you’ll be able to upgrade the Relocator, which will allow you to shoot further, thus unlocking more portals.
Mattermorph

The final Dark Matter ability of Destiny 2 comes from the Morphology mission, which, well, is quite apparent. You’ll get this skill after chasing down the mission’s boss and reaching the final room. There, you’ll be able to interact with that weird dark matter growth that appears in certain parts of Kepler and use it to manipulate some objects with a green glow. Like other abilities, the effect only lasts for a while, so make sure to use it while it’s active.
