A good roleplaying game allows you to change jobs or classes on the fly, and one of the many things we love about Dragon’s Dogma 2 is how it facilitates this freedom. Knowing how, when, and where to unlock and change vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is vital to your playthrough. Luckily, we can give you the basics and advanced tips!

How to Change Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2

You can change vocations at Vocation Guild locations in Dragon’s Dogma 2, marked by signs with two daggers on the map. Here, you can not only swap between known vocations but buy unlocked vocations you’ve not learned yet.

You can purchase them with DCP (Discipline Points), which you gain in tandem with XP in the game. This includes the first four vocations, Thief, Mage, Fighter, and Archer.

If you noticed some glaring omissions already, have no fear! If you’re at the Vernworth Vocation Guild, talk up the person at the desk. You’ll learn that Roderick’s Smithy, the nearby smith, would have supplied the gear for Warriors and Sorcerers.

However, this shipment was stolen, so you have to retrieve it in the ‘Vocation Frustration’ quest. Bring back the Greatsword and Archstaff to unlock the Warrior and Sorcerer vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Beyond the above options, there are still enticing classes for players well into the middle or late phase of their initial playthrough. These include:

  • Mystic Spearhand: Taught by Sigurd in Melve.
  • Magick Archer: Complete the ‘Put a Spring in Your Step” quest at Volcanic Island.
  • Trickster: Go to Reverent Shrine south of Checkpoint Rest Town and get your fortune told by Luz.
  • Warfarer: In the process of unlocking the True Ending, go to the Volcanic Island Camp to unlock this special vocation. There’s a specific tattooed NPC, Lamond, you must speak to at the hot springs.

Each of these special options is unique in that they’re only available for the Arisen. This narrows your choices for pawn roles, which is disappointing yet also a relief.

They also each boast an impressive range of hybrid combat tactics, mixing magick or, in the Warfarer’s case, entire vocation masteries.
