Crafting is crucial to progress through Lords of the Ring: Return to Moria, and to get better items, you need to unlock recipes. Other games of the genre usually task players with skill points or something similar to unlock new items to craft, but this game returns to the genre’s root and makes it much easier. If you’re struggling to get better items or don’t know how to unlock new things for your Dwarves to craft, this guide’s for you.

Return to Moria is perfectly balanced in that most of the recipe unlocking works like Minecraft, yet there are other ways to unlock different items. Here are some of the things you can do to get new recipes:

  • Gather new materials.
  • Finish certain quests.
  • Restore monuments or statues.

To unlock the most basic of recipes, you must gather new materials. The game encourages you to gather everything you see on the ground. On the other hand, for the rarest recipes, you must finish certain quests or repair some structures. For example, some statues give you armor and weapons recipes once they are repaired.

Where To Find Your Unlocked Recipes

At first, you won’t have a lot of recipes to keep track of, but the more you advance, the more daunting remembering everything will get. Thankfully, there’s a way to keep track of your unlocks because the game has a useful recipe book. Here’s how to open it:

  1. Head to your crafting stations (Furnace, Forge, etc.)
  2. Click Recipe List on the bottom left corner.
  3. You’ll find all recipes categorized by the station where you can craft them.

The game doesn’t tell you this, and it is a very useful tip if you want to learn which things you’ve unlocked or if you’ve forgotten what materials you need. There are also other quick-crafting menus that you can open with the B and C keys. The former is for building structures, and the latter is for basic tools.
