Like many other action-adventure games, Spider-Man 2 also features a skill tree system for upgrades. This is the same mechanic in Marvel’s Spider-Man 1 and the Miles Morales standalone game. However, there are some minor changes now that you can play with two protagonists in one game. New skills are now separated into three different levels in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and here’s how you can unlock them to help Peter and Miles fight their foes.
Unlocking Skills in Spider-Man 2
You can unlock new skills by spending skill points on the Skills menu. Just like many other action-adventure games, you’ll receive these points by leveling up. And you level up by doing missions, defeating opponents, and doing side activities. However, it’s important to note that the skill tree of Spider-Man 2 has three different levels.
First, you have Peter Parker’s skill tree. These skills are unique to Peter, and every time you play as him, you’ll be able to use these unlocked powers. Next, there’s the skills menu for Miles Morales, which is for this character only. For example, you can upgrade Miles’ venom strike power, which Peter doesn’t have in his arsenal.
Which Skills To Upgrade First?
Besides the two skill menus for each protagonist in the game, Peter and Miles have a shared page as well. This upgrade is for Spider-Man, and since they’re both Spider-People, they can benefit from it! Anything you upgrade on this tab will apply to both Miles and Peter while spending the same amount of skill points you did to upgrade individuals. So, it is important to prioritize some of the upgrades from this tab.
To upgrade the skills, you need to choose the node you want and then spend skill points to have the ability. However, you can not unlock any skill you wish to at the beginning. First, you must get the relevant nodes in the tree and then continue unlocking the later ones to reach the skill you want. Be very careful about which set of skills you unlock in the game, as how you choose your skills determines your playstyle through the main and side missions.
For example, if you choose more attack-focused physical skills to use in combat, you’ll need to play aggressively in most scenarios. But, if you decide to be more tactical and upgrade your web-shooters mechanics, then you’ll able to keep the fight at a distance and even do some missions stealthily. You could also upgrade a node from each branch, making it a balanced experience with your new skills in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
