Patch 0.13 of the popular online multiplayer Escape From Tarkov introduces a new Merchant NPC, but how can you unlock the Lightkeeper? This is the first time an NPC has made its way into a raid, adding new excitement and challenge for Escape From Tarkov players. However, like the unforgiving nature of Tarkov, the Lightkeeper is shrouded in mystery. Accessing and interacting with this elusive character is not a walk in the park. Unless there are mines in yours. This guide will explain what players must do to find the Lightkeeper and uncover the secrets surrounding this new addition to the game.
How to unlock the Lightkeeper in Escape From Tarkov
Unlocking the Lightkeeper is a challenging task. The lighthouse keeper, located at the Lighthouse on the peninsular island of the Lighthouse map, differs from your typical merchant. He does not offer items for sale or trade. Instead, it serves as a client for special quests in the Tarkov endgame.
To gain access to the exclusive domain of the Lightkeeper in Escape From Tarkov and set foot on the coveted Lighthouse Island, you must complete the Lightkeepers and Lighthouse quests. It’s a challenge not for the faint of heart, but if you persevere, you’ll be halfway through unlocking him.
But to fully unlock the Lightkeeper, you’ll need more than just a series of not-so-easy quests. You also need a Scav karma of at least 2.0, so use the vehicle exits on maps and complete tasks from Fence to get more karma. Once you’ve completed all the tasks and earned enough karma, the Merchant Mechanic will give you a new task called “Network Provider – Part 1.” Then, you will finally unlock the Lightkeeper.
Should you Try to Reach the Lightkeeper in Escape From Tarkov?
Reaching the lighthouse keeper takes work due to several obstacles. The Lighthouse Bridge is filled with explosives, making crossing nearly impossible without careful navigation.
- The content and map creators have devised specific routes to bypass the bridge mines, which is still dangerous.
- The game developers have also patched the previously used route to unlock the locked door inside the Lighthouse using the digital security DSP radio transmitter.
- Players have reported that obtaining the digital security DSP radio transmitter through the mission “The Skier’s Shit” is no longer possible, as the bug has been fixed.
It is important to note that even if players manage to reach the Lightkeeper in Escape From Tarkov, the rewards for completing his quests may be negligible, as the requirements to unlock him are high. Unfortunately, no exclusive items or benefits are associated with interacting with him.
Escape from Tarkov is available on PC.
