The Void Fiend is one of the two new characters you can unlock with the Survivors of the Void DLC for Risk of Rain 2. This Corrupted Commando can be obtained when the requirement for the Dragged Below Challenge has been met. Completing it can be challenging, especially since you have to get the DLC’s alternate ending. But at least the game offers you two different approaches to earn the character and Challenge.

There are two ways that let you unlock the new Void Fiend character in Risk of Rain 2. Both methods can be done in the Drizzle difficulty if you’re struggling to obtain the character:

  • First, you can try defeating the new Voidling final boss and getting the alternate ending, escaping Planetarium by going into the purple portal.
  • Second, reach Wave 50 in the Simulacrum wave-based game mode.
  • Completing one or the other will reward you with Void Fiend and the Dragged Below Challenge.

Some players said you need to defeat Voidling with Railgunner, the other Risk of Rain 2 DLC character, to unlock Void Fiend. However, that is not the case. You can use any character you like and acquire the alternate ending to obtain the Corrupted Commando.

Nevertheless, using the Railgunner, you can exploit two weak points that should make the Risk or Rain 2 DLC fight easier. A Railgunner can attack the center of the Voidling’s eye or the back of its head. Her Magnetic Accelerator passive will guarantee every hit as a critical hit, dealing a huge amount of damage.

Speaking of exploits, there is also a straightforward way to reach Wave 50 in Risk or Rain 2 Simulacrum. Run the Simulacrum mode with the Engineer and use Artifacts of Command and Sacrifice. The Artifacts combination will make sure you can easily get item stacks fast. Then get as many damage-boosting items as possible and stack Bustling Fungus while placing TR12 Gauss Auto-Turrets beside one another.

This should let you destroy as many enemies as fast as possible and practically “AFK-ing” without too much effort. When it’s time to follow the Assessment Focus around after four waves, do that, then repeat this method all over again.

Risk of Rain 2 is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
