How To Unlock Vampire Skills in The Blood of Dawnwalker

Embracing the dark side

We can all agree that sword and witchcraft skills are pretty cool in The Blood of Dawnwalker, but many still want to lean heavily on that vampire fantasy, and the game provides a lot of skills to do that. However, since being a vampire isn’t an easy feat, this RPG does things a bit differently by making you work hard for those abilities, but also succumbing to Coen’s newly found darker side.

How To Upgrade Corruption and Unlock Vampire Skills in The Blood of Dawnwalker

First, we need to talk about the Corruption system, which is tied to obtaining vampire skills in The Blood of Dawnwalker.

Contrary to sword and witchcraft abilities, where you only need skill points and manuals to unlock them, for the vampire ones, you need to increase your Corruption levels. The only way to do that is by consuming blood. Fortunately, any type of blood works, meaning you can just drain animals, humans, or whatever creature that allows you to use that skill.

Every time you consume blood, you’ll see the Corruption level going up. You can see the icon on your UI or in the skill tree menu, which we marked in the above image. It is important to keep track of these levels, as some abilities need you to be at a specific Corruption level.

On top of that, you can only unlock certain skills by consuming special blood. For example, to unlock the Shadowstorm skill, you need to defeat The Bloodletter, or at least that’s the enemy that dropped it for us. Once you defeat it, you’ll get the Phial of Bakir’s Blood, which, when consumed, will grant a lot of Corruption on top of a new skill.

So far, we’ve seen that some of these skills come from powerful opponents, such as the ones you can find in the Forge It Anew questline.

Keep in mind that besides the Corruption requirement, vampire skills still require you to spend perk points and time slots to learn. The good news is that you won’t need manuals to unlock their upgraded versions.

In any case, just remember to drain every enemy you see on the map when possible, especially during combat. Doing so will let you get better vampire abilities, which you can then slot on your radial menu to give Coen new active or passive skills.
