Defeating enemies in Risk of Rain Returns will allow players to acquire different items. Of course, most of them will help you survive by increasing your stats or giving you new abilities. However, some of the items may not have a clear purpose, such as Keycards in Risk of Rain Returns. These Keycards can only be found and used in one of the stages of the game. And they can give you a huge advantage in the final battle, so you shouldn’t miss them.

Keycards are only available in one stage, namely stage five in Risk of Rain Returns. You won’t be able to find them anywhere else except Providence Trials. But getting your hands on them can be a little tricky.

Having reached Contact Light, you will have to fight many enemies and each of them, including elite mobs, can drop a Keycard. If you donโ€™t want to waste time on this, you can use an alternative method, namely searching for golden containers.

Almost all of them are located behind blast doors and contain the coveted Keycards. It is also worth noting that in total you can get up to 4 Keycards during the final stage. And each of them will help you prepare for the battle against Providence.

What Are Keycards Used for in Risk of Rain Returns?

Keycards can only be used for one purpose: Opening locked doors. And as you probably guessed, there are 4 locked doors on Contact Light. You will find them in front of the Boss room:

  • Storage Room – In it, you will find many chests with useful loot and even a secret item.
  • Medical Bayย – Inside, you can heal and prepare for battle. However, if you interact with the Surgical Bed, you will immediately begin the battle with the final boss and can use it to heal.
  • Armory – In this room, players will find various weapons and a Gauss Cannon, which, like the Surgical Bed, will start the battle against Providence. And with its help, you can inflict huge damage on the boss.
  • Cabinย – After opening the last room with the final Keycard, you will find more chests and several drones. In addition, you can interact with the Nano-Chest to start a boss battle, and then this Chest will drop a random item.

That’s all you need to know about Keycards in Risk of Rain Returns. These items will help you better prepare for the battle, so you better collect them all. Additionally, you can unlock the Wicked Ring item for future runs. In the meantime, why not take a look at our guide onย how to get Beam Drone.

Risk of Rain Returns is now available for PC and Nintendo Switch.
