Scanning QR codes has become a popular mechanic in various mobile games in the last few years. In Monster Hunter Now you can send out and scan the pixelated codes to your friends to hunt monsters together. There are three ways to utilize QR codes in Monster Hunter Now, so let’s learn how all of them work below.

Create a Party Manually with a QR Code

In Monster Hunter Now, you can share a QR code to make a party with three other Hunters. This can be done in two different ways. First, you can do so through the Party menu. Here are the steps to create and invite your friends to a party or join up with one:

  1. Tap your character icon on the bottom of your screen.
  2. Tap the “Party” button.
  3. To create a party and invite your friends, tap “Create Party.”
  4. A QR code will appear. Let your friends scan the code to join.
  5. To join a party, tap “Join Party.”
  6. Then use your phone camera to scan a party QR code.

You can also make a party when you’re hunting a monster that you or your Palico have tagged with a Paintball. To quickly create a party and hunt together, here’s how you can do it:

  1. Tap the Paintball icon on the bottom of your screen.
  2. Select one of the tagged monsters you want to hunt.
  3. Tap the “Hunt together using QR code” button.

Now, a QR code will appear on your screen for two minutes. Let your friends scan the code then tap the “Start hunting” button when everyone is ready.

However, do keep in mind that even with a QR code you cannot play Monster Hunter Now with friends in far-away locations. All of the party members have to be physically close to each other.

Me and a couple of friends are living in two different countries. We have tried sending and scanning screenshots of our QR code hunt through a chat messaging app and we can’t still connect with each other.

Invite Another Hunter to Your Friends List

Lastly, you can use a Monster Hunter Now QR code to invite people to your Friends List. All you have to do is:

  1. Tap your character icon on the bottom of your screen.
  2. Tap the “Friends” button.
  3. Tap the “Add Friends” button.
  4. Give your My Friend Code QR to nearby Hunters.

Funnily enough, you can add people from another country using a QR code. Simply send them your QR code and let them scan it. In spite of that, this Friend system has even less function than Guild Cards in the mainline titles. All you can do is look at their equipment, the date when you became friends, and how many times have you hunted together.
