One of the most unique indie games of late is Dave the Diver. It is a title that combines several mechanics from different genres and works wonderfully. You have rogue-like elements as soon as you dive, but can also manage a sushi bar. These things make this game much more fun than it should be, and it keeps getting bigger as soon as you unlock new features. As we mentioned, running a sushi bar is one of the biggest parts of this game. And for that, you’ll need some ingredients. Some require specific items like the bug net to get, and in this guide, we’ll tell you how to use it in Dave the Diver.

Most items in the game are acquired through exploration, and even then, you still need to complete blueprints before you can use them. You must only progress through the main story for the bug net in Dave the Diver. This makes obtaining it much easier, but you’ll need patience for the quest. These are the steps you need to follow to get the item:

  • Wait until Maki arrives at the sushi bar
  • Unlock her quest called “Reticent Girl.”
  • Gather the following ingredients:
  • White Trevally Fish x3
  • Kelp x1
  • Soy Sauce x1
  • Add the Trevally Kombu Ochazuke dish to the menu and serve it to her
  • You’ll get the bug net as a reward

What Can You Do With the Bug Net?

If you’ve explored the Blue Hole already, you might’ve seen some small fish swimming that you couldn’t catch. The bug net in Dave the Diver will let you catch small fish like seahorses. Doing so will unlock several new recipes you can create to earn more money when managing the restaurant. To use the bug net, you have to approach a certain spot in the sea and wait for the “Space Bar” prompt to appear above Dave, and that’s it.

And that’s how to get and use the bug net in Dave the Diver. This item is quite useful and one you shouldn’t neglect when playing. Unlocking it will give you access to more species and let you collect them for your Marinca collection or cook certain dishes. While there are many activities to do in the game, we recommend unlocking the mission to get this item as soon as possible.

Dave the Diver is available now on PC, and it is getting a Nintendo Switch version sometime in 2023.
