Hulu’s animated Marvel series, M.O.D.O.K., just revealed its full cast via Deadline. And it features some of the biggest sitcom stars working today. The show, which is said to be an adult family sitcom, is part of a deal between Hulu and Marvel that was announced last February. Similar animated shows for Howard the Duck, Hit-Monkey, and Tigra and Dazzler are also part of this deal.
M.O.D.O.K. stands for Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. He was once a scientist, but experimentation led to powers like supreme intelligence and psionic abilities. But it also left him with a very large head. He’s a frequent enemy of the Avengers. But this series will focus on his home life after bringing ruin to his evil organization, A.I.M.
Comedian Patton Oswalt will voice the Marvel villain, though he is also writing and co-executive producing the series. Aimee Garcia (Lucifer) will play Jodie, his wife. Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) will voice his son Lou. And Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) will voice his daughter Melissa. Other cast members include Beck Bennet (Saturday Night Live), Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs), Jon Daly (Curb Your Enthusiasm), and Sam Richardson (Veep). Showrunner and co-executive producer Jordan Blum had this to say alongside the cast reveal:
I’m blown away by our insanely talented and hilarious voice cast, who have all brought their specific kind of magic to this weird and wonderful corner of the Marvel Universe.”
Karim Zreik, Marvel TV Studios SVP Original Programming & Production, also added:
Patton and Jordan have done a phenomenal job in laying the groundwork for this exceptional ensemble. We’re thrilled to include this cast in the Marvel family.”
With Disney+ came the end of the Marvel/Netflix deal. However, as Disney owns a giant portion of Hulu, it seems like these odd animated adventures will be just fine.
