Hyrule Warriors Legends for 3DS has recently received a demo version in Japan. A Youtube video posted by TiLMENDOMiNATiON demonstrates a few minutes of the gameplay and also compares it to the Wii U version of Hyrule Warriors. At first glance, the immediate difference is the brightness and amount of detail. The 3DS version is brighter and clearer but is without certain small touches. The character models remain largely unchanged.

On the technical side of things, the 3DS version is slower to transition from cutscenes to gameplay by around a second. There also seem to be fewer on-screen enemies at one time, likely due to the system’s limitations compared to the Wii U. The most notable difference, however, is that the player will be able to control multiple fighters in a single scenario. As shown at the 10:30 and 18:40 marks in the video below, this appears to be done by tapping a character’s icon on the touch screen.

Being a demo of the first scenario of the game, the storyline and plot remain the same, begging the question where and how new characters like the Skull Kid and Linkle will enter.

Hyrule Warriors Legends releases March 25 this year. Perhaps linking (pun only half-intended) the systems together and using the new characters in the Wii U version will add some new gameplay to the original. Both Hyrule and planet Earth are waiting to see.
