A California woman has sparked concern for her safety after posting a video of her uncomfortable interaction with a male neighbor whom she says has refused to take no for an answer. She said she spent more than a year telling the man she wasn’t interested in a relationship and wanted to be left alone, but he continued making advances toward her. The clip was shared on TikTok and, in less than 24 hours, went viral, racking up more than 200,000 views.

Being a woman is terrifying. “No” not being an answer is crazy 🙃 #neighbors #women

The video never shows either person’s face, but instead captures the conversation between them. From what was said, it appears the neighbor approached the woman to ask why she was no longer speaking to him. He allegedly told her, “That better not happen again,” and that was enough for her to confront him.

The woman told him she did not think what he said was okay and reminded him that she had mentioned on multiple occasions that he made her feel uncomfortable. “That’s not funny to a woman who lives alone,” she told the neighbor. “I have now let you know several times via text, in person, I don’t feel comfortable being around you or communicating with you. I am even worried in my apartment at night.”

The man laughed it off and told her she was being “harsh” because it was only a joke. He also claimed he had been giving her space. The woman pushed back, saying he had done the exact opposite and continued to scare her.

The exchange continued as the neighbor laughed off her concerns and told her she had a “personality problem.” The woman eventually warned that if he didn’t leave her alone, she would call the police. Rather than back down, the neighbor laughed again and asked what she could possibly report him for.

The video ends before viewers learn how the confrontation ended.

Netizens Concerned for California Woman’s Safety

In her comments, hundreds of netizens urged the woman to take additional steps to protect herself. “I’m scared for you. Please be careful,” one person wrote. Another commented, “You really should out him on camera and expose him.” A third said, “Please make a police report regardless of what he may or may not do.” A fourth advised, “Please make sure you post daily so we all know you’re okay.”

Some said they found the man’s response throughout the exchange unsettling. “His laughs are seriously disturbing,” one netizen remarked. Another wrote, “The fact he continued to stay there and argue with you about it instead of saying okay and walking away.” Someone else added, “If he was harmless, he would’ve apologized the very first time you said something and respected your boundary.”

As of this writing, the California woman has not shared any additional details about what happened after the confrontation. She did, however, reassure viewers in the comments that she is safe.
