An Oregon delivery driver has sparked debate online after sharing footage of a woman confronting him for riding an electric unicycle on the road. The TikTok, which has racked up more than 45,000 views in a day, has prompted viewers to weigh in on whether electric unicycles belong in traffic.
The video was shared by Bend Unicycle Delivery‘s TikTok account, which regularly posts videos documenting food deliveries around Bend, Oregon, while riding an electric unicycle, along with the occasional interaction with customers, motorists, and pedestrians. His latest video centers on an awkward exchange with a motorist they dubbed a “Typical Karen” in the description of the video.
In the clip, the delivery driver records himself riding along the road while making a routine DoorDash delivery. As he stops at a red-light, a motorist nearby yells out of her window, “You are not supposed to be on the road!” which sparks an awkward confrontation between the pair.
The delivery rider replies, “Actually, we are,” though the woman remains unconvinced. “Yeah. Where are we supposed to ride?” he asks. The woman insists that an electric unicycle is not a motor vehicle and therefore does not belong on a public road.
“I’ve never been pulled over by the police,” the delivery rider responds. The woman then asks whether he has a licence, prompting him to explain that one is not required to ride an electric unicycle, “just like a bicycle.”
As the traffic light turns green, the exchange continues. “You don’t need a licence. Share the road,” the delivery rider says. The woman replies, “I will not,” before driving away.
After the video was shared online, viewers quickly weighed in on both the confrontation and whether electric unicycles belong on public roads.
