ICE agents have continued to crack down on immigrants following President Donald Trump’s orders. However, the people are now fighting back, resisting more illegal arrests countrywide.
A situation broke out in a Latino community in California when ICE agents showed up in an unmarked car, with sirens blazing and masked faces as usual. They apparently arrested someone in the community and attempted to leave. However, they were recorded by several bystanders who stood their ground against the arrest.
One 16-year-old girl in particular was trying to record the incident, but the agent turned on her and attempted to kidnap her, too. A video posted on Reddit captured the chaotic scene that broke out on the streets when the ICE officer chased down the young girl. He violently grabbed her by the hands and tried to pull her away.
As soon as the officer grabbed her, he was immediately surrounded by another lady in a red shirt and a young man, who wrestled her back. The man recording the video could be heard shouting at the officers, “Hey, hey! She’s a minor!”
Once the victim was out of the hands of the ICE agents, they looked on, visibly scared and surprised that citizens were able to grab the young girl and take her away. One of the officers hurriedly got into the unmarked vehicle in an attempt to leave, but soon came out again, as did two other officers.
The footage of the incident went viral on Reddit, and several users pointed out the obvious fear in the officers’ eyes. “You see how scared these ICE agents look? You can see it in their eyes. What does that tell you? Who really has the power?”
One user wrote, “The mask doesn’t cover up the fear you can see behind his eyes.” Another commented, “Love how he’s standing there, acting like he’s doing something. Meanwhile, one inch behind him, his partner is being swarmed.”
A third Redditor added, “They were trying to get out of there immediately once they couldn’t get whoever they were grabbing. That’s not how law enforcement works.”
Another user shared the same sentiment, writing, “There’s not a chance in hell that those are trained law enforcement officers.” The user noted that they did not dress like officers and did not arrest people in a manner that reflected proper training.
Referring to the scared agent, the netizen wrote that he “…looks like he’s A), about 19, and B), sh*tting himself half to death from being surrounded by civilians, including a couple of 110 lb teenage girls.”
Still echoing the same thoughts, another user commented that the ICE arrests are now “increasingly becoming a sanctioned human trafficking ring.” Luckily, citizens are fighting back and winning against these sanctioned kidnappers.
