ICE agents have been spotted arresting an individual at San Francisco International Airport, California. Videos of the incident have sparked online commotion, with viewers describing it as ICE “causing havoc” in places where the agency had not previously been seen.
Multiple videos of the arrest have recently gained traction on platforms such as Reddit and TikTok. The footage has sparked widespread controversy, with many Americans expressing concern about how ICE might operate at airports.
One of the videos shows agents detaining a woman as she screams. Nearby, a child can be seen crying, though it’s unclear whether the infant is related to her. In the background, several bystanders can be seen recording the scene.
This shift in ICE operations comes at a tense time for U.S. airports, where long security lines have been reported amid a Department of Homeland Security shutdown. The disruption in funding has left many security screeners working without pay, affecting operations.
Reports indicate that the federal government deployed ICE agents to multiple airports across the country to help with the staff shortage.
Americans React to ICE Operating at Airports
ICE’s presence at airports has not sat well with many Americans, with videos like this one circulating widely online and often accompanied by criticism.
On social media, users are expressing anger at this change. “Just anyone can lose their flight because ICE decided to detain them?” one user wrote. Another one claimed that “there’s a reason they need to do this in airports now. Long lines and even more eyes, this plays right into their theater of fear. They are hoping to scare people away from traveling ahead of the midterms so more people sit out.”
Others expressed outrage, arguing that the immigration agency was in the wrong: “Passed security check. This means she had a valid ID of some sort. Now watch as they deport this woman and her child before she can sue.”
Multiple viewers also expressed concern about how this could impact tourism in the near future: “That’s gonna be great for tourism, but the criminals in charge don’t care.” Another person wrote that “this should be amazing for the World Cup later this year,” a major global event set to take place in the United States from June to July 2026.
It’s unclear when the staff shortage will end, and whether ICE agents will be withdrawn from airports afterward.
