Ice Cube has been a massive celebrity for years, and many people around the world love his work. From Barbershop to Are We There Yet to the Friday series, the iconic rapper and actor has tons of support for a wide range of people. However, things took a turn for him in 2020 after rumors began to swirl that he supported Donald Trump. The claims reemerged in November 2024 once Trump was re-elected over the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. In an interview with Baller Alert, Ice Cube, 55, said the people spreading these statements are dead wrong. In fact, he said they have him “f*cked up.”
“People who think I’m MAGA or Trump supporter (and all that), and I went out there and voted for the Republicans and all this, man, they got me f—ked up,” he told the hosts. “I never said that. They have no proof. I ain’t never endorsed a candidate. So, you know, I just think they got me f*cked up, and it’s just a narrative that’s wrong.”
Many People Aren’t Convinced Ice Cube Doesn’t Support Donald Trump and His MAGA Crew
After the clip of Ice Cube’s statement was posted online, several listeners commented to share their feelings. On one hand, many social media users said they thought the actor was lying, saying he “voted for Trump” but doesn’t want to be canceled by Hollywood. Someone else also chimed in, mentioning his religion and saying that could make him “more conservative.” A third person commented, saying they’d bet five dollars the “No Vaseline” performer voted for Donny.
However, there were a few comments that showed support for Ice. “Anybody who thinks he’s wrong for voting for Trump has not been paying attention,” someone wrote. “If he voted for Trump, so what?” another posted. A third wrote on Instagram, saying Cube’s alleged support of Trump would make sense considering the Democratic party has forgotten about the “Black communities.”
Why Do People Think Ice Is a Trump-Voting Celebrity?
This isn’t the first time Ice Cube has been accused of supporting Donald Trump. In 2020, the entertainer had people riled up when he announced he presented Trump’s team with his Contract with Black America plan. According to him, his goal was to meet with both administrations during the election cycle; however, Biden’s team wanted to wait until after the big day. Trump’s team, on the other hand, wanted to meet with him immediately.
Eventually, Donald Trump and Co. released the “Platinum Plan,” which was designed to win over Black voters in 2020. According to Ice, Trump’s plan had nothing to do with him. On the Baller Alert podcast, he revealed their layout belonged solely to the GOP. “That was done in their own think tank,” he said.
He even addressed the noise on X, formerly Twitter, one day, too. When a user called him out for sounding unprepared, he replied, saying it was all Trump’s “plan.”
“My plan is the Contract With Black America. Compare the two for yourself and see what they took.”
Cube isn’t the only celebrity who’s gotten pushback for associating with Trump. Most recently, singers like Ray J, Waka Flocka Flame, and Lil Wayne have expressed their support for the reality star-turned-political figure. Will it continue throughout his term? We’ll have to wait and see.
