A 26-year-old woman in Washington says what began as a routine stop by ICE agents turned into a disturbing experience after one of them later contacted her using information obtained during the encounter. According to her account, the incident took place a few weeks ago in a Target parking lot, where she was speaking in Russian on the phone with her mother when two masked men in Border Patrol uniforms approached her. They asked if she spoke English and requested identification. She handed over her driver’s license and passport card, confirming that she is a U.S. citizen.
Despite this, the ICE agents continued questioning the woman about her legal status, how long she had been in the country, and what she did for work. The Washington woman said she was then instructed to sit in the back of their vehicle while her documents were checked. During this time, one of the agents allegedly asked her to unlock her phone and hand it over, which she did. He reportedly kept the device for several minutes before returning it.
Washington Woman Receives Creepy Call
The situation took a more alarming turn days later. The Washington woman said she received a call from an unfamiliar number. Expecting a legitimate call, she answered. The caller initially made small talk before asking if she was available to meet on Friday or Saturday night. When she pressed him to identify himself and explain how he had obtained her number, he eventually admitted that he was one of the ICE agents involved in her earlier detention. According to her, he said that while going through her phone, he noticed she used dating apps and decided to take her number to contact her personally.
The Washington woman told him the contact was inappropriate and said that any official communication should go through proper legal channels. The agent allegedly responded that the call was not related to official business, complimented her appearance, and remarked on her being “obedient” during the stop. He then ended the call after telling her to “think about it.”
She says the incident has left her feeling shaken and unsure how to process what happened, particularly given the fear she experienced during the initial detention. While the Washington woman questioned whether she might be overreacting, she emphasized that the situation felt deeply unsettling and inappropriate.
Users who read her account online were also alarmed. Many said the agent’s behavior appeared inappropriate and urged the Washington woman to seek legal advice in case the situation escalated. One commenter wrote, “You are not overreacting. This was incredibly gross. His comment about your obedience is nauseating. Do you know an immigration attorney? I’d ask them what to do about this.”
