Though coverage of ICE activity in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has faded from mainstream media, residents still report being afraid to go outside and worried about being harassed by ICE agents. Some people, however, have reported being targeted specifically by these agents for speaking up online. One Minnesota teacher recently reported that ICE agents were staking out in front of her house. While most people would be scared and refuse to come out, this Minnesota teacher refused to back down and made a video in response.
She said that she noticed the ICE agents’ presence outside her home and remarked that this was likely due to her TikTok content, which heavily criticized ICE and DHS. The woman said that the experience did not make her feel afraid at all, because the agents’ attempt to intimidate her failed completely. Her neighbor, who also noticed the ICE presence, confronted the agents directly and drove them out of the neighborhood. She said that seeing that made her feel protected and supported by her fellow neighbors.
The Minnesota teacher also taunted the ICE agents, saying that if they decided to visit her house again, they should knock on her door. She referred to them as her fans, saying that hanging out outside her house was definitely fan behavior.
The internet reaction was mixed. Some people were outraged after hearing what ICE agents allegedly did to the Minnesota teacher. Many found their actions inappropriate and out of line. “And once again they are stalking a woman,” one commenter said. Another wrote, “This is further proof that ICE is not about immigrants who committed crimes, it’s about them being domestic terrorists on behalf of a failing dictator and administration. If they were legitimate, they wouldn’t care about what people were saying online or in real life. But since their true purpose is to harass and harm, that’s what they’re doing.”
Some questioned why ICE agents would waste their time and taxpayers’ money by allegedly harassing an innocent Minnesota teacher instead of focusing on tracking down undocumented immigrants. “Thank goodness our tax dollars are being devoted to protecting the public from (checks notes) a civically minded middle school teacher that helps with organizing charity and acts of goodwill for the health and safety of her local community. Who knows what we’d do if we didn’t have these brave, brave, big strong boys to curb this dangerous plague upon our streets!” one user said sarcastically.
Others were more entertained by how the Minnesota teacher reacted to being a target of alleged intimidation by ICE agents. Some applauded her bravery and response. “I love meeting my fans. I absolutely love your energy! You do our state proud,” one user said. Another added, “Honestly, I aspire to being enough of a thorn in their side that they eventually bother to try and harass me. Good work! Truly, I mean that.”
