United States animal shelters face many urgent hardships. One of the most crucial challenges is constant overcrowding. Room for new strays is dependent on current strays finding new, safe, loving homes. In the state of Illinois, Chicago Shelter Dogs has found an innovative way to fast-track community outreach endeavors, and bring more visibility to animals in need.
Together with Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC), they’ve organized an Illinois shelter event called Content Creator Day. Scheduled for September 24th, the event is invite only, but they’re looking for local creators to step up and help get the word out.
In a video caption, the shelter explained more about the initiative, which needs all the media reach it can get:
This event is inspired by the power of Influencers…to spark change, inspire community, and educate about local adoption, fostering, and community resources available at CACC.
How Local Illinois Creators Can Help Chicago Dogs
The rescue then detailed how outside promotions from local creators can make all the difference in helping with their plight:
Use your platform to lend a voice to animals in need… Every post, every story, every video equals more chances for them to be seen, adopted, and loved.
In addition to the helpful upcoming event information, the footage also features adorable screenshots of animals looking for new homes. Despite its name, the shelter appears to extend rescue services to both dogs and cats.
Dozens of viewers supported Chicago Rescue Dogs for their creative efforts. Illinois residents flocked to the comments, sharing and boosting the cause. In addition, some gave tips for best social media practices, to help boost their future events.
It’s clear that many TikTokers now understand the assignment. One viewer put it best when stating, “[T]he more we can get [their] beautiful faces out there, the better chance of success.”
Fingers crossed this shelter gets all their fur kids adopted, and more Chicago residents step up to help with the task! The quicker these strays find forever homes, the quicker the shelter can rescue more dogs and cats in need.
As for Chicago residents who want to lend a hand, please contact the shelter directly on their TikTok channel, as they instruct in their video clip.
