Aside from Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem is another woman who has faced intense scrutiny during the Trump administration. Things appear to have gotten so severe that the president decided to remove her from her position. In his usual fashion, Trump announced the decision via social media after Kristi Noem was grilled on Capitol Hill over the conduct of ICE agents in America and her responses to the various incidents that have occurred. In her place, Oklahoma Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin has been chosen as the replacement. That may already be news you’ve heard, but what might be less known is that many people are celebrating Kristi Noem’s fall, including Illinois Governor Jay Robert Pritzker.
The Illinois governor recently uploaded a video outlining his stance against Kristi Noem. His first message to her was to say not to let the door hit her on the way out. He also described her legacy as one marked by corruption and chaos. He highlighted incidents where parents and children were tear-gassed and other U.S. citizens were shot by ICE agents. Pritzker further remarked that she should not expect to get off scot-free after her actions, as justice would inevitably pursue her.
Though many people have expressed dislike and even hate toward Kristi Noem, the video from the Illinois governor didn’t receive unanimous support from internet users. Many saw this as a lazy attempt to gain public approval. “He’s just talking trash for political points. Let me know when he leads a bill or process to actually hold these people accountable,” one commenter wrote.
Many users also said that they would wait to see if Kristi Noem actually got punished for what she did. “I’ll believe it when I see it. I don’t think enough Dems will push for accountability. I think that they’ll let a lot of it slide in order to move forward. Doing so would invite history to repeat itself,” one user said.
Others used the chance to express their dissatisfaction and criticism toward the Illinois governor, saying that he didn’t have the right to criticize Kristi Noem since he was also corrupt. “Wow… really?! You are the worst governor that Illinois has ever had! I cannot wait to tell you the same after you are voted out of office!” one user said.
Some users wondered whether Kristi Noem would actually get any punishment aside from being fired from her current post. Others said that this firing was just a pretense to have her moved to another cushy spot in the government.“She wasn’t fired, she was transferred to a new organization that’ll act like the Munroe Doctrine on steroids. If anything, this is a promotion from a passive group to an active one,” one commenter said.
