A security camera took on an unexpected role beyond simply recording, leaving a woman in Houston, Texas, frightened as it began speaking back to her, prompting her to question what was happening and why her camera appeared to be talking.
In a video posted on TikTok with the caption, “Omg, I’m literally shaking!!! What is this?!”, the woman leaned toward her camera as it emitted distorted, inaudible sounds. Visibly shaken, she said, “My camera is hacked.”She began asking who was there, growing increasingly unsettled, while the camera emitted more strange noises. This caused her further confusion as she realized she could hear her own voice echoed back.
Moments later, a male voice could be heard speaking through the camera, leaving the woman stunned. She covered her mouth with her palm, clearly shocked. “Who is this?” she asked. The voice responded, “Who are you, mate? You called me,” to which she replied firmly, “I didn’t call anybody.” The voice continued to insist that he had been contacted, while the woman explained that it was a Ring camera.
“I’m getting a call from America,” the voice said again, maintaining that he had been called. He added that he was going to end the call and warned her not to call him back. The comment section quickly filled with reactions as viewers shared their shock and fear over the strange encounter. “You’re getting a call from the upside down.” Another commenter stated the obvious concern, “Girl, you’ve been hacked… might be watching you inside your house too👀😳😭.” A user added, “Somebody is playing on your camera, girl!!!”, while another wrote, “Um, that’s terrifying.” “This is so dangerous and scary,” someone chimed in, as another asked, “Girl, did you get that camera from the dark web?”
Jokingly, a user added, “Stranger things!!! You tapped into a secret signal🤧🤣. The upside down world.” Someone shared a similar experience, writing, “Hahahaha, sometimes my Bluetooth in my car picks up other people’s phone conversations, and it is hilarious.” Another commenter pointed out the seriousness of the situation, saying,“WTF😳 thatis scary. But I have heard of Ring Cameras being hacked.”
