A black woman in Georgia is going viral after sharing a lengthy video on TikTok explaining why she plans to vote Republican and why she is done automatically supporting Democrats. She used clips about immigration, border enforcement and Democratic politicians to make her case, and her post has drawn mostly supportive reactions from viewers.
The woman, who goes by @geebabyteaup3 on TikTok, directed much of her message specifically at other black voters who she believes don’t take voting seriously, particularly those who automatically support Democrats without questioning what the party has done for them. She made it clear early on that she was no longer among them.
“I don’t give a damn what y’all say about Republicans,” the woman said. “Every Democratic-led state is [expletive] up.”
She then spent much of the video playing a series of clips that she said helped explain why she had decided to vote Republican.
Georgia Woman Makes Her Case for Voting Red
Immigration was one of the biggest issues behind her position. She first showed footage of unrest in France that she attributed to migrants and argued that the United States could face similar unrest if it did not maintain tighter control of its borders.
She followed that with a news clip about a group of migrants traveling through Mexico toward the United States and a warning from the Department of Homeland Security about illegal entry. The woman claimed Democrats would reopen the border if they regained power and argued that allowing large numbers of migrants into the country would put Americans at risk.
At one point, she went much further, using old CNN footage of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks to argue that lax immigration policies could allow dangerous people to enter the country and remain there until they were ready to carry out an attack.
However, the 9/11 Commission found that all 19 hijackers entered the United States using nonimmigrant visas rather than secretly crossing the country’s land borders. The commission found shortcomings in the visa and immigration systems and noted that some of the hijackers later violated immigration laws, but said none entered or attempted to enter the country by bypassing legal entry procedures.
Still, the woman used the footage to make a broader argument that border security was one of the biggest reasons she was unwilling to support Democrats.
She Also Took Aim at Democratic Politicians
The TikToker’s criticism wasn’t limited to immigration. She played a clip of Rep. Jasmine Crockett discussing her early career as a public defender and recounting how she once told a prospective boss to hire her because she was Black. In response, the Georgia woman said she was “speechless” that people would use their skin color to get ahead and was now “so glad they got rid of DEI hires.”
Another clip she played concerned California’s AB 2624, which Gov. Gavin Newsom signed in August. The woman characterized the law as preventing independent journalists such as Nick Shirley from exposing immigration-related fraud.
The measure has become the subject of a political fight in California, though the law itself does not ban journalists from investigating fraud. It expands the state’s Safe at Home program, which allows certain people’s addresses to be kept confidential, to include some workers who provide immigration services and have received credible threats of violence. The law also restricts knowingly publishing the personal information of people enrolled in the program when it is done with the intent to incite serious harm against them.
That is where much of the disagreement over the law comes in. Republican critics have argued that the restrictions could make it harder for journalists to investigate and report on suspected fraud involving immigration services. Supporters, however, say the law is about protecting workers who have received threats, rather than preventing scrutiny of their work.
The woman nevertheless saw the controversy as another reason to distrust Democrats. She said that when it came to the upcoming midterms, she was no longer willing to support a political party simply because other Black voters traditionally did so.
“I’m voting for what’s right and what’s wrong,” she said. “I’m voting red no matter what.”
Most Viewers in Her Comments Were With Her
Many of the people responding to her video supported her message.
“Preach Black MAGA,” one person wrote. Another told her, “Girl you are on FIRE! Behind you 100%!!” Someone else said, “Yes we need to come together! Vote for Americans!” A fourth commented, “Girl, I am with you. What are Black people voting for? No one makes laws for us even Obama didn’t make laws for us so what are we voting for?”
Others used the comments to air their own frustrations with Democrats, with one netizen writing, “Missy, u r so correct..all the democrats want is power and money..they don’t care about any American.” Another claimed, “Thank you, ma’am!! the dems do not care about any of us, only care about lining their pockets while true Americans pay the price!!”
A third added, “If they win in the midterms we are screwed I hope people wake up and vote for the republicans. They are coming because they think democrats will win let’s hope not.”
The Georgia woman apparently isn’t finished making her case. At the beginning of her video, she said she plans to spend the rest of the month posting more videos to get people to understand how important it is for them to come out and vote in the November midterms.
