Recently, in Austin, Texas a local gaming store known as Pat’s Games was robbed.  According to surveillance footage around 1 a.m. Sunday, January 24th two men broke into the store and stole approximately $75,000 worth of Magic the Gathering Cards.

The surveillance video shows two men approaching the store, one wearing a medical mask, hoodie, and gloves while the second man was wearing camouflage clothing but no face covering.  According to store owner Pat Johnson: “We feel that he’s a Magic the Gathering player, and we know that he’s been in the store before because it only took him 20 seconds to go in and find our highest-dollared cards.”  All of the cards that were stolen were housed in three glass cases.

The owner decided to take things into their own hands, going to the internet with the photos and footage of the crime in the hopes that the criminals could be caught. They said: “We did put the pictures out on Facebook, Reddit, everywhere we can—it’s kind of going viral on the internet—hoping someone will recognize the guy”.

The local police are still investigating the crime.

Are you an avid Magic the Gathering player?  Are you surprised by how expensive trading cards can be? Do you know the identity of the perpetrators?  Tell us about it in the comments.
